Who we are
Newt's Village is an events catalog operated as a personal project. We collect, normalize, and surface public event listings from third-party venues and organizers.
What we collect
- Account data — email and password (hashed) when you create an account; display name if you set one.
- Submission data — event details you submit through the public submit form, attributed to your user account.
- Server logs — request timestamps, IP, user agent, status codes. Retained 30 days.
- No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics by default.
What we do with it
Account data is used for sign-in and to attribute your activity (event submissions, edits) for moderation. We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
Location data
Distance on event cards is opt-in. When you turn it on under Account → Settings, your browser asks permission to share your location. We use that location only in your browser to compute the miles displayed on each card — it never reaches our servers and isn't logged anywhere. Turn it off any time and the cached coordinates are removed from this device.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie for sign-in. No analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes you'll see a consent banner first.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account at any time. Self-service account deletion is available at your account page — erasure cascades to your submissions, anonymizes audit-log attribution, and signs you out. For data export or correction requests, email the address below.
Data retention
Account data is retained until you delete the account. Audit log retention is 90 days for full diffs and indefinite for summaries. Server logs are retained 30 days.
